Acapulpo de AlamedaAlameda is a beach town oasis for us, especially because it is so child and family friendly. And the weather is amazing all year round. Since it felt almost like a vacation home, we thought we'd name it after one of Mexico's olderst beach resorts: Acapulco. Continuing with our cephalopod theme, the house became known as Acapulpo de Alameda. 'Pulpo' is Spanish for octopus and 'alameda' means a street that is lined with trees, and it happens to be the name of the island town and the county in which it resides. We moved here as a family just before L's first birthday.
The house is conveniently located close to all the shops and restaurants on Park street. The town hosts a local bookstore, DVD rental place, Tucker's Ice Cream (a local favorite), a newly refurbished movie theater (with restaurant food and assigned seating!!!), and a lot of great restaurants all within a 10-15 minute walk. |
